Website indecision?

Are you suffering from “website indecision?”

Do you recognize that your business website needs a lot of help to make it effective? And yet you have neglected to act because you’re afraid of taking the wrong route?

There are so many ways to go. And so many offers of advice and help. The offers come from friends, popular media, spam emails, and “professionals” who you sense are trying to make a quick buck from you.

So maybe you just wait. Perhaps you’ve investigated your options, vowing to make a decision – when the time is right. After the first of the year. After tax time. After your cash flow is better. It never seems to be the right time!

It’s just like that chronic back pain that you know needs treatment. You know the problem is not going to clear up on its own. You know that it’s only going to get worse if you don’t go to a real professional.

The solution: Do something!

You are just handing over business to your competitor if you have a website that sucks – or if you have no website at all. You don’t have to wait until conditions are perfect. And your website doesn’t have to be perfect the day it launches. In fact, the beauty of the internet is that you can modify your website as much as you want. In fact, the flexibility of a website gives it a powerful advantage over any other type of media for marketing. And you can make many of the changes yourself or have a professional help you.

But the bottom line for most businesses is that you must have a website. Customers are actively looking for your services. They may even be looking specifically for your company. And they’re using the internet more than ever as their preferred way to get information. If you’re not there to give that information when they are looking for it, then you’re out of luck.

A temporary solution is at least something!

For much about $100 you can create a simple web presence and keep it posted for a year. A domain name will cost you about $15 a year and web hosting can be as little as $60 a year. Most web hosting providers have tools that an amateur can use to build a very basic site.

At the very least, your customers can get your contact information, business hours, and a summary of what you offer. Granted, it’s not going to drive a lot traffic to your door. And it’s not going to turn wary prospects into loyal repeat customers. But at least you’re less likely to drive customers away than if you had no website at all. Or an unfriendly site that gives the wrong impression or that frustrates the very people who want your services.

How can I help you?

I’m in the business of helping businesses get more business. I’ll always be straight with people. I don’t offer high end website solutions that will cost you several thousands of dollars. And I can’t really sustain my own business by offering my services for next to nothing. But I can help you get started if you’re willing to do much of the work yourself. My hope is that once your site is launched and you’ve operated it for a while – you’ll come to realize the value of doing it right. And then I can offer you a more professional – but still-affordable – website with more suitable features that can help you grow your business.

Most of all I’d really like to see you do SOMETHING about your web presence. Indecision in operating a business never leads to good outcomes!
