Presentation content as a source for blog posts

giving a presentationDon’t overlook using  your presentation content as inspiration for your next blog posting

As a business professional, it’s likely that you give at least occasional presentations. These may be formal or informal, rehearsed or spontaneous. These presentations may be introductions, training, educational, sales, status reports, proposals, or other. The audiences may be business prospects, customers, students, colleagues, or other.

If you’re lucky enough to have an audience that sees you as an expert, you can leverage that authority with your blog.

Here are some presentation assets that may be suitable for re-purpose to use on your website or blog:

  • your bio – especially your qualifications as an expert to present on this topic
  • your main points – What are the takeaways that you want your audience to get? Summarize.
  • case studies or examples you presented – These work very well in blog posts. You can offer additional examples or more detail on your blog.
  • visual aids – flow charts and org charts, diagrams
  • any handouts – checklists, summaries, questions
  • the questions asked by your audience – during or after the presentation
  • the action steps you recommended to your audience – remind them
  • references given for further information – website links, articles, sources used

If you give a lot of presentations, you should also consider listing the presentations – or the topics you are qualified to speak on. This can help build your credibility and trust with your website visitors.

Remember: You will probably need to modify your presentation content to fit your audience needs and the web medium.
